Virtual Urgent Care for Children

Virtual urgent care visits are available for most children. A parent or legal guardian must be present during the entire video doctor’s visit.

Computer Requirements

If you would like to use a computer instead of a mobile device, please make sure it has a working web camera, microphone, speakers, and high-speed internet connection. Internet Explorer and Google Chrome web browsers are compatible with this service. 

What to Expect During a Visit

If you or your child needs care for a non-emergency condition, our virtual urgent care service offers a video visit with one of our care providers at a time that works with your schedule. The visit takes place over a secure line, and your privacy is assured.

For a child’s visit, the parent or legal guardian must schedule the visit on behalf of the child. Our care providers can only treat your child if the parent or legal guardian is present during the visit.

Our care providers are licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Georgia. You must be physically located within one of those states at the time of treatment.

With virtual urgent care, you or your child can do the following:

receive an examination, diagnosis, and treatment from our office.

• be treated for a variety of minor medical concerns such as cough, sore throat, flu-like symptoms, rash, allergies, and pink eye
• receive an after-visit summary containing a care plan and any follow-up instructions, including referrals for a specialist visit or diagnostic imaging
• have us notify your primary care physician to contact you about your visit
• have prescriptions recommended by your virtual urgent care provider sent to the pharmacy of your choice

Conditions We Treat

Virtual care is not intended to replace a visit to a regular doctor for routine healthcare needs such as an annual physical. This service is intended to support you or your child’s care when the doctor’s office is closed or in between appointments for urgent needs. A referral is not needed to see a virtual urgent care provider.

What Our Care Providers Can Treat

Virtual urgent care providers treat a variety of concerns or complaints. Some common conditions we treat include the following:

• cough
• pink eye
• sinus pain
• urinary tract infection (UTI)or urinary frequency
• abdominal pain (minor)
• allergy
• back pain (minor)
• cold sores
• cuts and bruises (minor)
• diarrhea
• fevers (mild)
• gout
• head injury (minor)
• headache (mild)
• heartburn
• lymph node swelling
• motion sickness
• mouth sores
• rashes
• runny nose (rhinorrhea)
• sore throat
• sprains or strains
• upper respiratory illness (mild)
• viruses
• vomiting

What Our Care Providers Do Not Treat

More serious conditions that require an in-person visit to the doctor cannot be treated through virtual urgent care. Such conditions including the following:

 

• acute vision changes
• behavioral and mental health issues
• chest pain or palpitations
• stroke-like symptoms, such as sudden-onset weakness, numbness, or tingling

If you or your child requires an in-person visit to the doctor, we can schedule follow-up care

Medical emergencies such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, choking, significant bleeding, stroke-related symptoms, or thoughts that could result in personal harm or harm to others require immediate care. Please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency care location.

Cost and Insurance Options

Your insurance plan may cover the cost of a virtual urgent care visit for you or your child. It is your responsibility to verify that you have specific benefit coverage for telemedicine services under your benefit plan.

For plans we accept, we collect your out-of-pocket responsibility for an office visit at the time of check-in and bill your insurance for the remaining balance. If your insurance doesn’t cover the balance in full, you are billed for any remaining balance.

If your insurance plan is not accepted or you do not want a claim submitted to your insurance carrier, you or your child can still use virtual urgent care and register as a self-pay patient. You are charged up to $100 for the visit, plus any additional fees associated with other services provided.
